The Tomorrow’s Audience research demonstrated the importance of an inclusive approach to performances. For instance, over a third of under 35 new-to-arts audiences would welcome captions above the stage.
Inclusivity begins in your booking journey. All customers should be able to enjoy the same easy booking journey online. It’s not just about physical access, it’s also ensuring that the widest possible range of individuals have access to the arts.
This recipe will enable you to easily record your audience's access needs as they book their ticket.
Outcomes
- Enable customers to self-identify their access needs.
- Be able to find which of your customers have access needs.
- Use that information to highlight certain seats to them when they book online, or to deliver targeted communications via email.
Ingredients
Cook
- Create a Tag Group named "Access," available on web.
- Create tags in the group, one for each access need.
- Add a message via custom website messages that appears on the chooseats.aspx iframe that prompts your customers to log in or create an account if they wish to inform you of their access needs or to link their Nimbus Access card (if you are based in England).
Optional: Use the Nimbus Access Card
Spektrix partner Nimbus Disability offers the Nimbus Access Card. With this tool, you can use their recommended names and your tags would not be available on the web. Customers manage their access requirements centrally via their Access Card.
